Katrina ignored her father’s warning and waded into the water, her fingers reaching for one of the strange, shimmering objects. As soon as her hand made contact, she pulled it back with a sharp gasp, letting out a scream that froze everyone in their tracks. All eyes turned to her, confusion and fear spreading like wildfire across the beach.
Robert rushed to her side, panic gripping his chest. “What happened? Are you okay?” But his daughter could only sob, her face pale with terror. As he took her trembling hand, his breath caught in his throat. The sight that greeted him was something he could never have prepared for.
