Nehemiah Persoff (Born In 1919) – Jerusalem
After spending his early childhood in Jerusalem, Nehemiah Persoff moved to the United States with his family in the late ’20s. During the Second World War, he served in the United States Army as a subway electrician. He ultimately shifted to acting and started as a theatre actor in New York.
After finishing his acting classes at the prestigious Actors Studio, his mainstream career took off. You might remember his parts in “Yentl” and “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Persoff retired in 199 and pursued painting instead. In 2021, he felt tremendous heartbreak after his wife Thia passed away.
