Barbara Walters’ first job was for a small advertising agency in New York. She then got into PR work for WNBC (formerly WNBT-TV). In the ’60s, she became a segment producer and writer in “The Today Show.” She received more airtime on the program once her popularity rose.
She made history in 1974 when she became the first-ever anchor for a network evening news program that was a woman. Walters is well-known for creating the talk show “The View.” She did her final on-air interview in 2015, and she withdrew from the public’s eye a year later.
